A little bit of signage can go a long way in driving sales in your store. Signs tell your customers where to find certain products, what items are on sale, and what products are available. How can you leverage the power of signs to drive sales in your retail store? Be sure to keep the following in mind.

Make sure you have attractive signs outside of your store. Signs can be powerful in luring customers into your store. Remember, 68 percent of customers in the US report having purchased a product or service because a sign caught their eye. Furthermore, more than two-thirds of customers believe in the quality of the products or services, while a full 79 percent of US consumers say that they remember businesses based on their signs. The bottom line? Signage is well worth the investment. The key is to make sure that your signs are bright and colorful, graphically attractive, and easy to read.

Use signs to advertise sales. If an item is on sale, make sure you have a sign clearly indicating the sale and the discount. Nothing gets a customer into a store quite like the promise of a good sale. Ideally, you will want to use a bright color such as red or yellow in order to attract customer attention.

Place high-demand items toward the back of your stores and use signs to direct your customers to them. Never place your high demand items at front of your store. Put them at the back of the store and use signs to guide your customers through the store toward them. Ideally, other items will catch your customers eyes, encouraging them to make additional purchases as they make their way toward the item they came in to get in the first place.
