There are various advantages to having glass display cabinets, apart from the fact that they can add to the overall appeal of any store, they can also help to increase your sales and of course they allow customers to have a clear and unobstructed view of whatever product you are trying to sell.
Most shoppers associate security with higher prices and will instinctively feel that items stored in glass cabinets and showcases are more valuable and as a result, you may find that these items are more attractive to buyers and end up selling better than other items.
Because your customers will require your help to open the cabinet if they want to view an item on display more closely, these glass cabinets are also great for encouraging customers and staff to interact. It allows your shop assistants to enthuse about the product, and to increase the store’s revenue by scoring more sales.
Security
Whatever you need to display can be kept secure, clean and well-lit and that is the main role of these glass display cases that come pre-assembled. These display cases are typically used in showrooms, hotel lobbies, conference centers and of course stores; in fact, just about anywhere where there are a lot of potential buyers.
As a result, shoplifting and theft are always an issue and you can help to minimize the possibility of shoplifting by using display units that are equipped with sliding glass doors that are lockable. Just about all glass cases come with some sort of locking mechanism, whether they are the standard wall cases, glass jewelry cases, pedestals or a free-standing glass tower.
Plunger & Push Locks
There are several different types of locks that are generally used for these glass display cases although the lock used should not detract from the look of the case. Plunger locks, push locks and safety locks are three of the more commonly used lock types. Although locks are desirable anywhere, they are especially important in any environment in which valuable or unique objects are to be stored and displayed, such as a museum or jewelry store. In addition to being secure, a good plunger lock should be of high quality and should also be easy to operate.
We supply two keys with our plunger locks and push locks, as well as an attractively finished edging / trim ring which easily slides along the lock’s face. In order for the trim ring to fit snugly around the lock barrel, you may have to crimp the trim ring for proper fitting.
Your glass display cabinets may come with a hole already pre-drilled to accommodate the locking mechanism; if not you will need to drill the hole yourself in order to fit the lock. The lock will be fitted to the metal strip on the case. If you need to drill the hole yourself, you should lock the barrel 3/4 of an inch when the key has been inserted in the lock. The glass doors won’t slide open once the plunger has been retracted, and you can also push the face of the cylinder forward to engage the lock, without having to use the key.
Plunger locks are a very common and widely used locking mechanism that are a must when you are deciding to buy glass display showcases intended to house your valuable merchandise.
