With customers coming into your shop and buying from you, you may be feeling good about the sale. Yet, what if it could be more? You may be able to add a bit more to the amount your customers pay by properly placing a few key items on your countertops and checkout counters. In short, increasing your average check is more possible than you realize it is.
Keep your counters easily accessible and clear enough to work on, but consider these tips:
Add a small, countertop display for a few extra items. Keep these items under $10 for the most likely purchase.
Use a lighted display as your countertop. You can easily keep some of your most likely impulse buys in your display case so customers can add them on to their purchase when they are checking out.
Add a smaller display on the countertop or near the checkout line. If you have customers that wait in line even for a minute or so, these displays allow customers to pick up just about anything on their way out.
It is important to use displays rather than just stacking items. This is important because it ensures you keep the countertops clear and easy to use. Most importantly, it allows you to easily keep your customers buying even in line.
