  1. Consumers are more knowledgeable than ever. <\/strong>Back in the day, a customer relied on a salesperson’s knowledge and expertise to make a purchasing decision. However, today’s consumers have likely done quite a bit of research online before they’ve even made their way into a store. Once they get in, they can easily find answers to questions and brush up on their knowledge using their mobile devices. So, what does all of that mean for retailers? It means that the purchasing journey starts long before a customer gets into your physical store. You need to make sure you’re present on the web as your customer starts the information gathering process and every moment thereon in the decision journey.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

Consumers get their opinions from the internet and not just their family and friends. <\/strong>Thirty years ago, if a customer were in the market for a quality electronic retailer to get a new television set, they would likely ask family and friends for a recommendation. Now, customers head to Facebook, Twitter, and local online listings for recommendations.
